Jason

Dear Jason,
Happy birthday to you! The best man I know! And truly, you are the best man. I wouldn't have married you otherwise. I have really great taste, you know!
Not only are you the best man, I also wanted to remind you that, you are the world's luckiest man, being that you are married to me! And just look at the three wonderful children I gave you! Wow! Are you ever lucky to have married me! You really hit the jackpot!
In all seriousness though, it's actually me, who is the lucky one. Actually, lucky isn't the right word; blessed is. I am blessed. I am blessed to be married to you, the best man I know. I am blessed to be able to kiss you goodnight. I am blessed to wake up beside you in the morning. I am blessed because I know this will always be true. Nineteen years ago you fell in love with me, and decided to make me your wife. (Oh, happy day!) From that day forward, you have chosen to love me. And I know you will continue to choose to love me. You love me when I'm easy to love. And you love me when I'm hard to love. You love me when I'm crazy and neurotic, and ridiculous, and when I'm unkind, and even when I'm downright mean. You just always love me.
And you think I'm beautiful.
And you tell me I'm a good mother.
You are considerate of me. Sometime you buy me things when I'm having a bad day. (I really love that! Actually, I could be having a bad day right now!)
You believe in me, even when I don't believe in myself.
And you work so hard to take such good care of us. I see that. You never complain about the early mornings or the late nights. (Ok, well, sometimes you do, but it's not real complaining, it's just normal complaining.)
And you keep my secrets.
And you tell me your secrets. (I know that probably sounds silly to you, but I want you to know, that really means a lot to me. It means you trust me. And that is a beautiful thing.)
And sometimes, you buy me things when I'm having a bad day.
You, Jason Allan Tarcon, are a good man.
I've shared this verse with you before....

Micah 6:8
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

I believe you strive to live according to this. It is what you do. It is who you are. I know that you don't always feel like you are living according to His requirements of you. I know sometimes you feel like you're getting it all wrong. And while sometimes you mess up, (but only sometimes!) you do what it takes to get back on track. Because your heart's desire is to seek justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. And that is what I love about you best of all. You never give up or give in. While you may not be perfect, and none of us are, you lead a life of integrity. You don't just talk the talk, you walk the walk. You are an example to those around you of what integrity looks like. You lead without realizing it. I look at our boys, and while they, and you, have not always agreed, and while there have been difficulties between you, I see patterns and qualities taking shape in them that you have modelled. Our boys are growing up with some of your very best qualities and I am so very proud of you for the beautiful example you've been to them. Our boys' wives will be blessed as well!
Jason, you are my best friend.
You are my lover.
You are my confidant.
You are my heart.
I am yours, and you are mine.
I love you.
Melinda

P.S. I think I may be having a bad day!
