Deep Dish Apple Pie

Honestly?
Is there anything better, in the whole wide world, than homemade apple pie?
I think not!
There is just something so fabulous about that gorgeous smell wafting throughout the house,
as it bakes in the oven!
I LOVE it!
And seriously,
once it's baked, and sitting on the oven to cool,
I absolutely LOVE looking at it!
It's kind of ridiculous, actually.
I just stand there,
gawking,
in awe,
of this gorgeous pie,
that I have actually created with my bare hands!
It's almost like I'm Wonder Woman!
Or Super Man.
Except that, I'm not a man.
Super Woman!
Yes!!!
That's me!
Super Woman has single-handedly created this stunning apple pie,
to utter delight, and AMAZEMENT of her family!
Sigh......
I'm just fabulous!
Ahem.
Anyway.
Without any further ado.
The recipe, for this gorgeous
Deep Dish Apple Pie!

Two pie crusts-(I use the recipe on the box of Tender-flake lard. Seriously, it makes the best pie crusts ever!)

Filling-
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
8 cups peeled and sliced apples

Prepare your pie plate with the bottom crust.
In a small bowl, combine all filling ingredients except the apples.

Peel and slice apples.

Combine dry filling ingredients with apples and stir to combine.

Pour filling ingredients into prepared bottom crust.

Cover with top crust, crimp edges, and slit crust to allow steam to escape.

Cover edged of crust with 2 inch strips of aluminum foil to prevent edges from becoming to dark.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
Remove foil.
Continue baking for another 10- 20 minutes until crust is lightly browned and juice is bubbling through the slits.

Cool completely.

Serve with vanilla ice-cream and enjoy!
